AODES report to the Executive Council meeting of 21 February 2007
The Section continues to develop its influence in Europe. The growth of the Section remains modest (10% per annum) but importantly many new members are amongst the most influential in Europe. The Section continues to have a favourable financial position.

2008 Annual Meeting, Athens
Professor George Vougiouklakis, the current President of the Section, is putting together a programme for the 2008 Annual Meeting. (program and form for 2008 meeting). Find more info at www.dent.uoa.gr/2008aodes
2009 Annual Meeting/ConsEuro 2009
Plans are in place to hold the ConsEuro 2009 in Seville, Spain between 11-15 March 2009. The 2009 Annual Meeting of AODES will form part of ConsEuro 2009.
Secretariat
The secretarial team (Professors Guido Vanherle, Paul Lambrechts and Dr Yo Gullentops) in Leuven continue to promote the Section with the intention of having one AOD/AODES member in each dental school in Europe.
EuroCondenser
The most recent issue of EuroCondenser (Vol. 9 No. 1) was published in January. This was Nairn Wilson's last issue as Editor. Dr. Chris Lynch is the new Editor.
Objectives

Promote excellence in operative dentistry within Europe.

Share knowledge, information and experience with the Academy of Operative Dentistry (U.S.A.).

Exchange knowledge and experience in the education of operative dentistry in the European schools through comparative studies of the existing programs.

Discuss new trends and evolutions in operative dentistry during the annual scientific meetings.
Summarize and publish the conclusions in a newsletter EuroCondenser annually.

Stimulate research in operative dentistry in Europe by rewarding the best poster presentation annually.

Annual board - and annual business meetings.

A newsletter ("EuroCondenser") published three times a year.
Past Meetings
Inaugural meeting of the AODES was held in:
1998, in conjunction with the Accademia Italiana di Conservativa in Riva d. Garda, Italy.
1999, the second meeting of the Section was in association with the Esthetics Symposium in Munich, Germany.
2000, this Millennium meeting was held in Bologna, Italy, as part of the inaugural ConsEuro meeting. The AODES joined with European Societies of Operative Dentistry to debate the issues concerning diagnosis, prevention and treatment.
2001, the fourth meeting of the Section was held in Barcelona, Spain, in conjunction with The American Dental Society of Europe.
2002, "Adhesive Dentistry Today" The Netherlands
2004, "Operative Dentistry: Innovative Changes and Challenges, academic views critically reviewed", Leuven, Belgium.
2005, "New Horizons in Operative Dentistry" London, U.K.
2006, this meeting took place in Rome, Italy, as part of the third triennial meeting of the European Federation of Conservative Dentistry - the 2006 ConsEuro meeting.
2007, this meeting took place in Geneva, Switzerland on the 12th of October.

2008, this meeting will take place in Athens, Greece
2009, this meeting will take place in Sevilla, Spain in cooperation with the EFCD.

Conference Dinner:
By special arrangement, the renowned Admirals Dinner Event on board the historic WWII Battle Cruiser HMS Belfast, 6.30pm for 7.00pm on Friday evening, will bring the meeting to a most memorable conclusion. Launched in March 1938 and in service until 1965, the ship is now maintained by the Imperial Was Museum and moored on the River Thames adjacent to Tower Bridge, Tower Thistle Hotel and Guy's Tower. Delegates will have the opportunity to tour the ship, which remains in original condition, prior to enjoying an all inclusive celebratory five course meal. Exceptionally, the Operating Theatre, Sick Bay and Dental Surgery will be available for guests to experience!
